Our Story

URAFIKI WA KUTOA MISAADA YA KIMATAIFA – KENYA also referred to as “Urafiki-Kenya” is a catalyst for social change and progress. Its service projects stresses the importance of co-operative efforts for sustained long-term development.

Urafiki-Kenya is a non-governmental organization (NGO) registered under section 10 of the Non-Governmental Organizations Co-ordination Act of the Government of Kenya, Ref. No. OP.218/051/2001/0196/2258, is non-political, is a public, non-profit agency that networks and cooperates with other non-profit organizations and agencies that desire to provide some level of humanitarian aid and assistance or that have similar purpose and vision.

Urafiki (IRFF)-Kenya was established on 16th SEPTEMBER 2001 as a Kenyan indigenous NGO working towards empowering the poor through projects under its direction.  The main sectors of activities have been in health, peace and reconciliation activities, Education, child-care programs, and environment.

Our Role

Urafiki-Kenya role include community mobilization, sensitization, and capacity building through training, and providing support to community development initiatives. Within the said period, Urafiki-Kenya has gained considerable experience in working with rural groups, the local administration, and local communities in all aspects of development. This has given Urafiki-Kenya unique capabilities in carrying out regional and community workshops. In all these programs, Urafiki-Kenya uses local leaders and integrates local communities in the implementation of the programs. This gives the communities a sense of ownership of the projects.
